THE WINNERS OF THE TWENTYNINE PALMS WATER DISTRICT BOARD ELECTION

The results of the Twentynine Palms Water District’s consolidated mail ballot election have been announced. The board seats will go to challenger Michael Arthur, who received nearly 46 percent of votes, and incumbent Carol Giannini, who received just over 33 percent of votes. The water board will hold a special meeting today starting at 3:30 p.m. to elect a board president, vice president, and chief financial officer. Items of interest for this week’s meeting of the Twentynine Palms Water district board of directors include discussions on adopting an update to the districts’ participation in the Mojave Integrated Regional Water Management Plan, which will allow grant funding opportunities for the district. The board will also discuss awarding a contract to an engineering company to provide services for a district well construction project. This will be followed by review of the consent calendar and management reports. The meeting will take place at 4 p.m. at their district offices, 72401 Hatch Road in Twentynine Palms.
