At last night’s (January 25) meeting, the Yucca Valley Planning Commission approved the transplant of thirteen Western Joshua Trees, as well as the removal of a number of native plants. Reporter Jef Harmatz has the full details from last nights brief meeting.
At last night’s regularly scheduled meeting, the Planning Commission approved the transplant of thirteen Western Joshua Trees and the removal of three dead Western Joshua Trees (in the 7300 block of Fairway Dr and the 54000 block of Pinon Drive), the encroachment within 10 feet of three Western Joshua Trees (in the 7500 block of Elata Ave and the 6300 Imperial Ave,) and the removal of several native plants, including three California Junipers, a Parry’s Nolina, and a Mojave Yucca at various residential locations around town. The commission once again postponed a vote on a residential setback variance in the 6700 block of Lindberg Lane, to continue conversations with the property owner. Finally, town staff reported that, as of now, no construction work is scheduled for Twentynine Palms Highway in Yucca Valley until April.
