The hilarious Neil Simon comedy, “The Sunshine Boys” continues its run at Theatre 29. Reporter Rebecca Havely has more…
“The Sunshine Boys” focuses on aging Al Lewis and Willie Clark, a one-time vaudevillian team known as “Lewis and Clark” who, over 40-odd years, not only grew to hate each other, but never spoke to each other the final year of their act. The stubborn Clark, who wasn’t ready for retirement, resents the wiser Lewis for breaking up the act when he opted to leave show business. The duo is now in their early 70s and CBS has invited the team to reunite for a TV special. Vintage hilarity abounds in the classic comedy of showbiz and friendship. Directed by Eddie Tucker, the cast includes: Alfred Klein, Kurt Schauppner, Jeremy Volsteadt. Brittany Smith, Daneita Chestnut, Barry Inscore and Mike Shaw.
“The Sunshine Boys” runs Friday and Saturday nights at 7 p.m. through February 13 with a 2:30 matinee on February 7. Tickets are $8 for students with I.D., $12 for military and seniors, general admission is $15. Tickets are available at theatre29.org or by calling 760-361-4151.
