While the Hi-Desert Water District hasn’t met its state-mandated goal of 16 percent reduction in water usage, General Manager Ed Muzik says it’s pretty close. “We are right now within 2 percent of that; we’re at 14 percent.” Muzik said the water district has increased its water reserves by 12,000 acre-feet. The water district is fixing its water mains before the sewer lines go in. And if your road is dug up when the sewer lines go in, take heart. “All of the roads that we do dig into, if they’re currently paved, they will get a brand new road.” The sewer project’s collection system, including 77 miles of pipe, has been designed, and soon a firm will be selected to design and build the treatment plant. And there’s some good news for Yucca Valley residents. “The State Revolving Fund Loan we received $8 million in debt forgiveness for personal property connections.”
