THE MORONGO BASIN ART SCENE EXPLORED AND EXPERIENCED

The Joshua Tree contemporary art scene is vibrant and healthy. Bernard Leibov, Director of BoxoPROJECTS and the Desert Institute, offers a one-day introduction from classroom to road trip. Hilary Sloane will tell you how to join in…

Leibov takes you through the highlights of the local art scene, beginning with an introduction and orientation in the classroom. You will then visit several interesting art sites in the area, including a special docent-led tour of the Noah Purifoy Outdoor Museum, the public sculptures at A-Z West, and a tour of BoxoPROJECTS, home to the residency program. Additionally, you will stop at the Joshua Treenial, explore the High Desert Test Sites in Gamma Gulch, and visit an Artist’s studio. Finally, cap the day off with a stop at the Art Queen in Joshua Tree. Bring your lunch.

The day begins at 9:30 a.m. and ends at 4:30 p.m. on March 27. The fee is $130 for JTNPA members and $140 for non-members. To sign up, go to www.joshuatree.org or call 760-819-4714.
