San Bernardino County reported seven more novel coronavirus deaths and 210 new cases Wednesday (May 27). There have been 183 deaths associated with COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus. Positive cases grew 4.6 percent to 4,777. Here in the Morongo Basin we have had 44 confirmed cases and three deaths: Yucca Valley with 16 cases and one death; Joshua Tree with 15 cases and two deaths; Twentynine Palms with seven cases; and Morongo Valley with six.
In the county of 2.1 million residents, 56,130 have been tested. Of those tested, 8.5 percent were positive for the disease. Testing rose 2.2 percent from the day before, according to the county. The time it takes for the virus to double in the community is 15.4 days.
