The Desert Institute at Joshua Tree National Park is offering a one-day class “Capturing Joshua Tree Landscapes with Acrylics.” Hilary Sloane will give you the details…
The Desert Institute is offering a class on landscape painting on Saturday, October 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Black Rock Nature Center 9800 Black Rock Canyon Rd, in Yucca Valley. The course will be taught by Janis Commentz, a painter known for her color-intense palette and loose brush strokes. Commentz will begin with basic instruction on the process and materials, including laying out your palette, color mixing, translating your observations into a painted image, tips for lights and darks, and planning a successful composition. Then, participants will observe, sketch, and learn what to look for in a potential landscape before moving inside to paint. The fee is $85 for JTNPA members and $95 for nonmembers.
