THE COST OF WATER IN LANDERS AND FLAMINGO HEIGHTS IS GOING UP

Residents of Landers and Flamingo Heights can expect to pay more for water service beginning July. Reporter Mike Lipsitz says last night’s Bighorn-Desert View Water agency meeting was about pay increases for directors, and rate increases for customers…

Following a public hearing on a five percent increase in board compensation to just over $140 per meeting, the increase was approved in a three/two split vote with President Mike McBride and Director Larry Coulombe opposed. This was the second consecutive year for McBride to oppose the cost-of-living increase saying that when their per diem compensation hit $125 a few years ago it seemed a fair amount to him.

Also last night, the board passed a resolution fixing and adopting the agency budget for fiscal 2019/2020 and confirmed a five percent increase to the basic monthly service charge and a three percent increase in consumption charges for all residential and most bulk meters.
