THE CENSUS HAS STARTED, WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

The U.S. Constitution requires the government to conduct a census of its entire population every 10 years. By now, most residents should have received a flyer in the mail inviting them to respond to the census online. Managing editor Tami Roleff has more information about the questions asked on the census…

The 2020 census will ask how many people are living or staying in your home; whether you own or rent and whether your home is a house, mobile home, or apartment; your telephone number; the name, sex, age, birth date, ethnicity of each person in the home; and the relationship to other people in the home. The census will NOT ask if residents are U.S. citizens. It’s important to respond to the census accurately as answers are used to determine how many representatives each state sends to Congress, how federal funds are disbursed, and more. ALL answers are kept confidential and NO government agency, including social services, law enforcement, or landlords, have access to them.
