A Yucca Valley woman has made it her mission in life to make sure that no one has to spend Christmas Day alone.
“Tender Loving Christmas was started 32 years ago because I had no place to go on Christmas Day.”
Mara Cantelo, who founded TLC, said Christmas dinner includes a full spread of meats, such as turkey and ham, as well as all the sides, salads, and desserts. But TLC is more than just food.
“They can come and eat and get toys and get free clothing and canned goods. Basically, it’s one neighbor taking care of another neighbor.”
The all-volunteer Tender Loving Christmas is free and will be held at the Yucca Valley Community Center from 12:30 to 6 p.m.
“So we’re hoping that everybody gets the message that they don’t have to be alone on Christmas Day.”
