A teenager who was acting suspiciously near the Morongo Basin Sheriff’s Station was shot with a bean bag Saturday, and taken into custody. According to a Sheriff’s report, a medic with Morongo Basin Ambulance noticed an older teen on a bicycle hanging out near the Sheriff’s station’s fuel pumps about 10:45 a.m. The medic asked the teen if he needed help, and when the teen said no, the medic notified deputies and suggested deputies check it out. When the deputy arrived, the unidentified teen pulled out a knife and refused commands to drop the weapon and to stay seated. When another deputy arrived, the teen moved toward the second deputy. The deputies shot non-lethal bean bags at the teen and took him into custody. The teenager was taken to the hospital for care, and was later arrested for investigation of assault with a deadly weapon against a police officer.
