As visitation to Joshua Tree National Park continues to increase, discussion on how to balance tourism with the park’s mandate to conserve and preserve its land and ecology must ensue. Reporter Mike Lipsitz tells us where you can get in on that discussion…
“Sustainable Tourism: Balancing Tourism, Conservation and Preservation” is the title of the next Black Rock Symposium set for Friday, February 28. The discussion will look at sustainable tourism from a statewide, regional and local view.
A panel including the Vice President of Communications for Visit California, the Director of Tourism Development for the Greater Palm Springs Convention and Visitor Bureau, and Joshua Tree National Park Superintendent David Smith begins at 7 p.m.
Sponsored by the Desert Institute and Copper Mountain College, this symposium will be held at the Bell Center on the CMC campus.
