The Sheriff’s Department was called out Thursday to investigate a suspicious package that was found on the side of Old Woman Springs Road in Yucca Valley. Just before 3 p.m., a passer-by called to report that there were several bundles containing a white crystalline substance that were bound together with duct tape. The Sheriff’s Department called its bomb and arson division, along with the county hazmat team to investigate. The contents of the bundles were tested and found to be inert. The hazmat team collected the bundles for disposal.
