Two sent to hospital in suspected DUI-caused motorcycle and car collision in Twentynine Palms

A motorcycle rider suspected of driving under the influence is under investigation for a collision that left him and a pedestrian injured.

On Saturday (September 6) at around 11:30 p.m., the California Highway Patrol (CHP) says Chaz Lithgow, a 33-year-old male from Twentynine Palms, was driving a 2024 Suzuki motorcycle within the westbound lane of Indian Trail, east of Morongo Road. The CHP says that Lithgow collided with a Toyota Camry and a 40 year-old male pedestrian.

Lithgow and the pedestrian were both transported to Desert Regional Medical Center to receive medical attention for moderate injuries sustained from the crash. A CHP investigation determined Lithgow was driving while under the influence of alcohol. The CHP is recommending felony charges against Lithgow of driving under the influence causing injury.

No arrests have yet been made.
