A driver suspected of being under the influence hit a utility pole in Yucca Valley, severely injuring himself and his passenger.
At around 10:45 p.m. on Sunday (February 12), County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report that a Nissan Altima hit a Southern California Edison utility pole near the intersection of Kickapoo Trail and Onaga Trail. Witnesses on the scene reported that the driver, identified as Dustin Nguyen, a 28 year-old resident of Beaumont, and the passenger, a 24 year-old male from Vacaville, were lying on the ground outside of the car and in need of medical attention.
Nguyen showed signs of being under the influence. Nguyen and the passenger were both transported to High Desert Medical Center for treatment for their injuries.
Dustin Nguyen was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI.
