Suspected DUI cause of fire hydrant-turned-fountain in 29 Palms

​​A damaged fire hydrant sprayed water for fifteen minutes in Twentynine Palms after it was damaged by a driver suspected of DUI.

On Tuesday (January 10), Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call of a damaged fire hydrant and spraying water on 72500 block of Twentynine Palms Highway near the Motel 6 at 12:45 a.m.

Deputies determined that a guest of the hotel, identified as Jason Kaylor, a 36 year-old resident of Twentynine Palms, had backed his vehicle into the fire hydrant, knocking it over. Deputies say that Kaylor was intoxicated while behind the wheel during the collision.

Water ran out of the fire hydrant for approximately fifteen minutes before City Works arrived and turned it off.

Jason Kaylor was arrested for DUI and cite released to a responsible party.
