A surveyor working in the Center Lane of State Route 62 in Morongo Valley was struck and killed yesterday (May 9). According to the Highway Patrol the man, as yet unidentified, was standing near his work truck in the center median Just East of Senilis shortly after 2:00pm when, for unknown reasons, a Ford F-150 pickup driven by a 39-year-old man crossed into the center lane striking the worker and his work truck. The impact pushed the work truck into an Eastbound Toyota Rav4.
The pedestrian was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the F-150 and his 18-year-old passenger, who was not wearing a seatbelt, were treated for moderate injuries. The CHP said that Preliminary investigation indicated that drugs or alcohol were not a factor in the crash.
