SUPPLEMENTAL K-12 CLASSES OFFERED FOR DISTANCE LEARNING STUDENTS

Distance learning has proven challenging to many students who are used to in-person instruction. To supplement distance learning curriculum and to help shake up student’s current routines, the non-profit Institute of Inquiry is offering a new series of online interdisciplinary classes. Reporter Andrew Dieleman has more on the classes and how you can enroll your student…

The Institute of Inquiry, based in Joshua Tree, is offering supplemental online classes to Morongo Basin K-12 students during distance learning. The Institute’s director Kimberly Sikora said classes include mindful movement and meditation yoga, theater storytelling, art through self-portraits, clay studio sculpture, video game coding, and desert field guides art and ecology.

“Based in Joshua Tree, our teachers have a deep understanding of what our community needs. Our educational approach is a two-way relationship with the students we serve. Within our inquiry-based classes, we foster students’ social and emotional learning as well as their evolving curiosities about the world in which they live.”

Classes begin December 7 and needs-based scholarships are available. For program details and enrolment information, visit www.instituteofinquiry.org.
