At tomorrow’s 10 a.m. meeting of county supervisors in San Bernardino, the board will consider several items relevant to our Morongo Basin.
Assignment reporter Mike Lipsitz has details… County Supervisors are expected to approve a $2.7 million contract with Hi- Desert Medical Center to provide outpatient mental health services to an estimated 6,000 individuals through fiscal 2019. The board will also likely extend a county contract with the Twentynine Palms-run Palms and Paws Animal Shelter to provide care and control services for unincorporated areas. Also, the board will authorize County Fire to execute a number of agreements in connection with the anticipated July 1 takeover of fire protection services from the Twentynine Palms Water District. And finally, the county supervisors are expected to place a deed restriction on 605 acres in Joshua Tree to comply with a federal grant requirement; that action in anticipation of county construction of a parking area, restrooms and three miles of nature trails it says are needed to protect area wildlife. Tomorrow’s meeting, and every Board of Supervisor’s meeting, streams online and to the first floor teleconferencing room in the County Government Center on White Feather Road where public comment can be made via live video link.
