SUPERVISORS BOOST MORONGO VALLEY, A VACANCY AND AN APPOINTMENT

At yesterday’s meeting of the Board of Supervisors in San Bernardino, county leadership dispatched several items of business relevant to our Morongo Basin. Assignment reporter Mike Lipsitz has a rundown…
It should come as a big relief to Morongo Valley residents to learn that county supervisors agreed to loan a fire engine for use by the Morongo Valley Fire Department while that station’s main engine is offline undergoing a major repair. The engine was authorized for up to 90 days free of charge. (The fire engine arrived in Morongo Valley on Tuesday, October 6.) Also in Morongo Valley, supervisors finalized a 10-year lease agreement with the CSD for use of 33.5 acres in the Big Morongo Canyon Preserve for $50 per month. In other actions, the board approved the appointment of Rebecca Rinkes to the Twentynine Palms Cemetery District. Rinkes takes the seat left vacant by the passing of Zander Harden. Supervisors also made official an open seat on the Municipal Advisory Council for a representative from Pioneertown.
