Rain dancers take note! While last spring delivered an eye-popping super blooms, the chances of another occurrence depend on one or two more storms for the region. Reporter Heather Clisby has the details…
Any visitor or lucky local around for the last two spring seasons likely have a smart phone loaded with dazzling photos from back-to-back super blooms. Neil Frakes, vegetation branch chief for the Joshua Tree National Park, stated that early winter rains should give us a “decent bloom” this spring and that green rosettes of plants have already appeared in lower elevations. Unfortunately, invasive and non-native grasses have also arrived in mid- to higher-elevation areas.
Frakes stated that a solid and longer-lasting bloom will largely depend on the region experiencing a couple more storms and a “good wetting rain in February.”
