SUMMER RAINS BRING OUT DESERT TORTOISES, HOW TO HELP

Summer rains mean that desert tortoises are on the move, searching for puddles from which to drink. Many tortoises will be traveling on roads, which makes them vulnerable to being hit by cars. Desert tortoises should only be moved in emergency situations. Officials at Joshua Tree National Park have produced a video on when and how to safely move a tortoise out of the road.
