The need for good nutrition for kids continues even when school is out. Reporter Dan Stork says the School District will help fill the gap with free meals during the summer…
The Morongo Unified School District invites all children to participate in its summer feeding program. There is no paperwork; just show up and any child up to 18 years old will get a nutritious breakfast or lunch for free. Meals will be available at six locations—Twentynine Palms High School, Twentynine Palms Community Services Center, Knotts Sky Park, Yucca Mesa Elementary, Yucca Valley Boys and Girls Club, and Yucca Valley High School—Monday through Thursday, starting June 22. The program continues through July 30 at most sites. Some sites offer lunch only. The time windows are small—15 or 20 minutes—and the schedule differs from site to site, so please read the detailed schedule shown with this story at z1077fm.com. Breakfasts and lunches are also available to adults, at a cost of $2.50 and $3.50, respectively, per meal.
