The Big Morongo Canyon Preserve is hosting two week-long day camps for kids interested in hiking and learning more about the plants and animals of the preserve. Reporter Eric Knabe has the details…
Summer Encounter, a week-long day camp at Big Morongo Canyon Preserve, will begin on Monday, June 18, followed by a second week-long day camp on Monday, June 25. Both sessions are free and available to kids ages 9 through 12 years of age. The same themes will be presented in both sessions, so please choose one week or the other. Enrollment is limited to the first 15 kids who sign up. Camp will begin at 9 a.m. and end promptly at 1 p.m. Adult guardians are responsible for transportation to and from the preserve, which is located at 11055 East Dr., Morongo Valley, just south of Highway 62. To register, or for more information about Summer Encounter, please call the preserve at 760-363-1159 or email Caryn Davidson, Director of Environmental Education at [email protected].
