Reach Out Morongo Basin’s annual Parade of Homes is a February tradition for many desert dwellers. For the past 14 years, countless supporters have set out on the one-day, self-guided tour as local residents have opened their hearts, and homes, to them. Reporter Mike Lipsitz has this story about Reach Out’s search for unusual abodes…
If your home showcases unique qualities of life in our desert, make it a candidate for the “Parade of Homes” tour set for February 17. Every year the tour generates thousands of dollars to support area seniors and disabled residents. Two homes in Twentynine Palms have been selected for the homes tours, but homes are still being sought in Joshua Tree, Yucca Valley and Morongo Valley. In all, six homes are to be showcased for what is Reach Out Morongo Basin’s annual flagship fundraiser. Curious visitors buy a one-day pass, then set out to explore everything from astonishing architectural masterpieces to renovated homestead cabins, each with its own unique story. Executive Director Robin Schlosser says it’s the generosity of owners who open their homes that makes this event such a success. If your home has a story, features unique qualities, or reflects your own innovations, consider submitting it for tour consideration. Reach Out makes it easy; call Schlosser at 760-361-1410 to learn more.
