STORM FLOODING CAUSES ROAD CLOSURES IN JOSHUA TREE NATIONAL PARK

082713Not only were roads in the Morongo Basin affected by Sunday’s storms, but roads and visitor facilities in Joshua Tree National Park as well. Park officials have announced that Pinto Basin Road, Cottonwood Visitor Center, and the Cottonwood campground are closed. Significant debris is blocking the road in the Smoke Tree Wash and Cottonwood Canyon areas. The road is expected to remain closed for one to two weeks while crews clear debris and repair the campgrounds. For more information, visit nps.gov/jotr.
