Three Twentynine Palms men were arrested yesterday, accused of stealing a vehicle and being in possession of stolen property. According to Sheriff’s Sergeant Matt Yost, about 8 a.m. Wednesday, a 2010 Lexus was reported stolen from the 72500 block of Juanita Drive in Twentynine Palms. Then about 2 p.m. yesterday, Deputy Jeffrey Casey spotted Albert Gonzalez, 20, pumping gas into the stolen car at the Circle K gas station on Adobe Road. Casey attempted to stop the car on Two Mile Road, but the driver, later identified as Christopher Jonas, 18, drove out into the desert and the deputy lost the vehicle. Then shortly before 9 p.m., deputy Ericson Dominick stopped a 2000 Chevrolet near the intersection of Mesquite Springs Road and Siesta Drive for a traffic violation. Inside the car were Jerome Eads, 21, and Jonas. During a search of the vehicle, the deputy recognized items inside the car that belonged to the owner of the stolen Lexus. After an investigation, deputies located the stolen car, as well as made contact with Albert Gonzalez, who was arrested near Adobe Road and Baseline on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle. Gonzalez was booked at the Morongo Basin Jail with his bail set at $50,000. Christopher Jonas was arrested for investigation of grand theft auto and was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail with his bail set at $50,000. Jerome Eads was arrested for investigation of possession of a stolen vehicle and on a warrant for a parole violation, and is being held without bail in the Morongo Basin Jail.
