STOLEN UTV FOUND, PUBLIC ASKED FOR HELP IN CATCHING THIEVES

A utility vehicle that had been stolen off a trailer Monday evening while the owners were eating in a Yucca Valley restaurant was recovered Tuesday morning. About 6 p.m., a group of people who had been at the King of the Hammers races in Johnson Valley parked their vehicle hauling a trailer with three utility vehicles while they went in to eat at IHOP. While inside the restaurant, three teens rolled the utility vehicle at the back off the trailer and then stole a black and blue Can-Am utility vehicle that was in the middle position. The owners told deputies that the UTV’s axel was broken from a KOH race. About 8:15 a.m. Tuesday morning, deputies were called to a vacant lot at Joshua Lane and Joshua Drive where the stolen UTV was found abandoned on its side. It’s unknown how the UTV got to the location if its axel was indeed broken. The Can-Am was returned to its owner, but the investigation is still ongoing. The only description of the three suspects involved in the theft is that they are believed to be black teenagers, between 15 and 17 years old. Anyone with information should call Deputy Campos at 760-366-4175.
