A 2003 Chevy reported stolen in Yucca Valley last week was found burning in a wash Friday morning, deputies believe the thieves are linked to several other crimes. About 2 a.m. Tuesday, deputies were in a high speed pursuit of a gold SUV through residential neighborhoods in Yucca Valley. The driver drove 70 miles per hour from Pueblo Trail and Valley Vista Avenue, blowing through stop signs, deputy lost the car after it turned into a desert wash on Yucca Trail east of Lupine. The next morning, the owner of a 2003 gold Chevy Blazer reported it stolen from a residence in the 8000 block of Acoma Trail. Then a resident in the 7300 block of Joshua Lane called police early Friday on a potential Peeping Tom in her apartment complex, along with a strange gold SUV in the apartment’s parking lot for the past few days, and that gas had been siphoned from her car. While investigating, deputies received a call 2:30 a.m. Friday of a car fire in the wash near Trojan Lane and the Highway. They discovered the 2003 Blazer burning; deputies believe the suspects used the siphoned gas to start the Blazer on fire.
