STOLEN MAIL FOUND AFTER A TWENTYNINE PALMS TRAFFIC STOP

Two Twentynine Palms residents were arrested following a traffic stop Tuesday, accused of possessing stolen property. According to a Sheriff’s report, a deputy stopped a car near Sunnyslope and Bagley Avenues in Twentynine Palms about 8:30 a.m. for following too closely and having an obstructed license plate. Inside the car were Richard Orsot, 30, and Alena Hanschild-Brohamer, 18. Orsot had two active drug-related warrants for his arrest. During a search of the vehicle, the deputy found stolen mail. A witness identified Hanschild-Brohamer and the vehicle as being involved in mail theft earlier in the day. Richard Orsot and Alena Hanschild-Brohamer were arrested for investigation of possession of stolen property, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, with their bail set at $25,000 each. In addition, Orsot was arrested on his drug warrants with his bail set at an additional $100,000.
