STILL SOME VERY CLOSE RACES LOCALLY FROM TUESDAY’S ELECTION

Two Morongo Basin races remain very close from Tuesday’s election. As of Wednesday afternoon, with 363,700 votes yet to be counted in San Bernardino county, Twentynine Palms City Council District 2 incumbent Joel Klink retains a slim 19-vote lead over challenger Jim Krushat. For Yucca Valley Town Council District 2, incumbent Jeff Drozd holds a 24-vote lead over challenger David Simmons. The San Bernardino county registrar will make the next update at 4 p.m. this afternoon. Left to count were 346,000 mail-in votes, 15,300 provisional and conditional ballots, and 2,700 ballots damaged or under review.
