STEVEN RIEMAN, LOCAL ARTIST, PASSES AWAY

Morongo Basin Artist, Steven Lee Rieman died peacefully at home on March 29 surrounded by his wife and friends. Complications of cancer led to the loss of this incredible citizen of this special part of the world. Since 1979 Reiman truly loved living and creating work here in the home and studio that he built. Gasper Patrico’s words artfully explained Steve Rieman’s unique kinetic sculpture that graces many local homes and institutions, “IRON MAN OF THE DESERT He made gravity chuckle/at the tonnage that danced/ under the spell of his maker imagination/ a gentle-giant poet who wrote in steel, stone and wind/ his sense of whimsy, curiosity, and generosity—unbendable.”
