STATE OUTLINES PLANS FOR TOMORROW’S REOPENING

California has outlined most of its reopening plans for lifting COVID-19 restrictions. Beginning June 15, fully vaccinated Californians can resume activities without a mask and without social distancing for most indoor and outdoor settings. Masks will still be required on planes, buses, trains, airports and transportation stations, health care settings, prisons, homeless shelters and schools. Private businesses may choose to continue requiring facial coverings. Those unvaccinated or partially vaccinated will still be required to wear masks outside of their home and can only remove their masks in public when outside and social distancing can be maintained.

Restrictions also remain for “mega events,” outdoor events with more than 10,000 people and indoor events with more than 5,000 people. Those attending must either be vaccinated or show proof of a negative COVID-19 test. “Mega event” requirements will remain in place until October 1. Cal/OSHA has not yet finalized rules for masking in California workplaces.
