“State of the Town” and new Mayor choice at this Tuesday’s Yucca Valley Town Council meeting (12/2)

If your New Year’s resolution includes being more involved with local government, this Tuesday’s Yucca Valley Town Council meeting is a great place to start as the Town looks forward to 2026.
The meeting will begin with a “State of the Town” report for 2025 as well as selecting the Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem for the following year.
Joshua Tree National Park Superintendent Jane Rodgers will then present an update on the National Park and Assistant Fire Chief William Villarino will have an update from the San Bernardino County Fire Department.
Then it’s on to budget and payroll reports. The council will be looking at the 2024/2025 Development Fee Impact report and looking ahead to the budget calendar for 2026 to 2028. They are also expected to receive and file the Town Council Meeting schedule through January 2027. The Annual Comprehensive Financial Report will be presented, preceded by a certificate of achievement for excellence in financial reporting for 2024.
Tucked into the budget agenda items is an authorization to purchase and install dugout shade sails at the Tri-Valley Little League Fields, expected to cost around $200,000 for the eight cantilevered shade structures.
The Year End Budget Report includes an amendment to transfer $3 million dollars from the general unassigned fund balance.
The Council will also receive a recap of the 2025 Yucca Valley Film Festival, as well as an Animal Shelter Committee Update. The meeting will wrap with your public comments along with comments and reports from Town Staff and Council members.
That’s this Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. in the Yucca Room at the Yucca Valley Community Center, located at 57090 Twentynine Palms Highway.
