STATE LIMITS COUNTY SCHOOLS TO DISTANCE LEARNING FOR 2020-2021 SCHOOL YEAR

Governor Gavin Newsom announced a new policy Friday that all K-12 schools in counties on the State’s Monitoring List, including San Bernardino County, must limit instruction to distance learning for the 2020-2021 school year. San Bernardino County is among more than 30 California Counties currently on the State Monitoring list due to increases in cases of COVID-19.  Governor Newsom emphasized the importance of “rigorous distance learning” at this time. Counties must be removed from the State Monitoring list for 14 days before any in-person education activities can resume. Those activities will be under specific guidelines and limitations, including mask requirements, symptom checks to enter school, sanitation stations, and mandated social distancing between students and teachers.
