Sky’s the Limit Observatory and Nature Center invites stargazers to experience the desert night sky tomorrow, June 16th. Reporter Jill Carey Michaels shares the cosmic details…
The spectacular summer Milky Way will rise in the east shortly after sunset June 16th at Sky’s the Limit Observatory and Nature Center. This free public event begins at 9:00 pm and will last two hours. Volunteers will set up a variety of telescopes along the winding sidewalks, and guests are welcome to use them or bring their own. During the summer months, the Milky Way is an easy target for photographers to tour the fine selection of nebulae in Scorpius and Sagittarius. Observe Jupiter and Saturn, two of the most impressive planets. Stargazers should pack a red flashlight to preserve night vision and may bring snacks, water bottles, and chairs. The seasonal sky is very unpredictable, so dress for the desert weather. No pets or overnight stays are permitted on the property. The Observatory and Nature Center is located at 9697 Utah Trail in Twentynine Palms, just outside the main (north) entrance to Joshua Tree National Park.
