STAR PARTY GOES ON DESPITE THEFT OF SOLAR SYSTEM

Despite the theft of its complete photovoltaic power system, Sky’s the Limit Observatory and Nature Center will hold its weekly star party Saturday night, February 6. The event begins at 6 p.m. and will end about 10 p.m. Volunteers will set up manually operated telescopes and guests may use them or bring their own. Because there is no power, visitors should bring red flashlights to preserve night vision. Showpieces during the star party will be the Andromeda Galaxy, double cluster, the Pleiades, and the Great Orion Nebula. Sky’s the Limit Observatory is located on Utah Trail, just north of the entrance to Joshua Tree National Park.
