More than $10,000 was raised during the ninth annual Festival of Wreaths, sponsored by the Copper Mountain College Foundation. The top bid of the afternoon was $925, which went to a wreath donated by the Twentynine Palms Inn; the wreath featured an original oil painting by Chuck Caplinger of a Joshua tree in snow. The People’s Choice award went to a wreath donated by Tire Pros of Yucca Valley. This year, 10 decadent desserts were included in the auction, and auctioneer Dan Letourneau led spirited bidding over a tub of banana pudding from Bistro 29 that sold for $125. The highest bid for dessert was $150 for a raspberry white-chocolate cheesecake made by Chuck Uyeda. The event also included a silent auction and raffles for a wreath, made by What I Want Bake Design, and a banana cream pie made by Jan Peters.
