Thought Theatre is presenting a cabaret in Pioneertown with an original script and an original musical score, co-written by two Hi-Desert bands. With your invitation, here’s Rebecca Havely…
Thought Theatre founder Miri Hunter stars in the leading role of an original cabaret performing in Pioneertown. Hunter co-wrote the original script with Lisa Mednick. The original music was co-written by the Hi-Desert bands Hunter and the Wick’d and Arroyo Rogers, making the production a truly collaborative effort. The story follows the closing night performance of Thelma Edwards, a cabaret performer in a small Southern town. The title of the show, “Stand for Freedom,” is inspired by a line from Dr. Martin Luther King Junior’s famous “I Have a Dream” speech, and was written commemorate the 50th anniversary of King’s assassination.
“Stand for Freedom” runs April 6, 7, and 8 and Studio B theater in Pioneertown. Tickets are $10, or $15 for reserved seating, and are available at the door or online at projectsheba.com/thoughttheatre. The final performance on April 15 is at the Wonder Valley Community Center with tickets by donation only at the door.
