SQUATTERS ARRESTED AT TWO YUCCA VALLEY HOMES

Deputies were called to two locations in Yucca Valley Tuesday for squatters living in vacant homes. Sheriff’s reports say neighbors called at 10 a.m. Tuesday to report that someone was living in an empty home in the 55300 block of Navajo Trail. A deputy contacted Michael Deangelo, 38, who was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of drug paraphernalia. Michael Deangelo was booked at the Morongo Basin Jail, cited and released.

About 3:15 p.m., deputies were called to another home in the 6900 block of Grand Avenue where they found several people squatting in a vacant home for sale. The report states the for sale sign had been removed, and the owner said no one was supposed to be living in the home. The squatters, Melissa Whipple, 28; Heather Davidson, 32; Kory Rizzotto, 24; and Adam Aversa, 31, told deputies that they were renting the home from another man, whose name was found on an electric bill for the home. The suspect was not at the residence at the time. Heather Davidson, Kory Rizzotto, and Adam Aversa were arrested for investigation of trespassing, booked at the Morongo Basin Jail, cited and released. In addition to her arrest for trespassing, Melissa Whipple was also arrested on a $25,000 warrant for receiving a stolen vehicle and is being held at the Morongo Basin Jail.
