SPRINKLERS SAVE A HOUSE FROM BURNING

A residential sprinkler system did its job yesterday and saved a Yucca Valley house from being destroyed or damaged in a fire. County Fire Battalion Chief Donnie Viloria said firefighters were called to the 58000 block of San Andreas Road at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday for a structure fire. When firefighters arrived, they discovered it was a car on fire inside the garage; he said the residential sprinklers had turned on and kept the fire in check and saved the house. Firefighters put the car in neutral and pushed it out of the garage while it was still burning to put out the flames. Viloria said that due to the sprinklers, there was no smoke or structural damage to the house or garage, although items inside the garage were destroyed from the flames.
