SPEECH PRIZES AWARDED BY YUCCA VALLEY NOON ROTARY

The Yucca Valley Noon Rotary Club named the winners of its annual speech contest Monday. The Rotary Club judged 11 speeches on various topics; such as the death penalty, government shutdown, the definition of a “perfect body,” space, and the Second Amendment; with an emphasis on Rotary’s Four-Way Test: “Is it true?” “Is it Fair?” “Will it build better friendships and good will?” and “Is it beneficial?” Winning first place and a $200 cash prize was Isabella Falossi with her speech on the similarity of life to a tree and God. Jocelyn Wheeler won second place and $100 for her speech. Third prize and $50 went to Aaliyah Broussard, who spoke on affirmative action.
