An argument between father and son escalated to the point that the son was arrested Wednesday, accused of elder abuse. According to a Sheriff’s report, Craig Cotten, 56, was arguing with his father in the 6800 block of Sage Avenue in Yucca Valley about 7:30 p.m. The two men started pushing each other and then Cotten allegedly started hitting his father; the victim suffered redness to both eye sockets, and his right eye was nearly swollen shut. He was bleeding from his nose and right eye, had two teeth loosened, and the victim told deputies he almost lost consciousness and was afraid of his son. He said Cotten said he’d kill him if the police were called. Craig Cotten was arrested for investigation of elder abuse, booked into the West Valley Detention Center, with his bail set at $50,000.
