As the heat rises towards the peak of the summer, CAL OSHA the state authority that protects workers and the public from safety hazards, warns workers and the public that heat stress can cause illness on the job. There are simple ways to protect your-self. Drink at least one quart of water an hour; stay away from coffee and other caffeinated drinks or alcohol and take breaks in cool shaded areas. Make sure you look out for yourself and coworkers by knowing the signs of heat stress- dizziness, headaches, nausea, and flushed skin. If you experience any of these symptoms seek medical attention immediately.
