SOLAR PANELS STOLEN FROM MORONGO VALLEY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Last fall, the Morongo Unified School board approved a contract with NextEra Energy Resources to install solar panels at 15 elementary, middle, and high schools in the district. The solar panels are projected to provide 80 percent of the energy needs for the school district and save the school district $9.4 million over 20 years in energy costs. On Monday night, unknown suspects stole the solar panels from the Morongo Valley Elementary School on Hess Boulevard. Evidence at the scene indicates that the suspect or suspects climbed over the fence to reach the solar panels. Anyone with information should call the Sheriff’s Department at 760-366-4175.
