The Morongo Unified School District Board of Education will begin its October 7 meeting with a work/study session on solar energy at 5 p.m. Following a 6:30 closed meeting to consider personnel and pupil issues, the Board returns to open session at 7. In honor of National Disabilities Awareness Month, the Board will recognize the accomplishments of students from eight schools. Then Director of Transportation Patrick Lucci will present information on transportation. Action items to be considered include: certification of textbook compliance; a credentialing waiver; moving the first Board meeting in November to 1 day past election day; declaration of Red Ribbon Week at the end of October; a leave of absence request; retroactive excuse of member Ed Will for absence from the last Board meeting; approval of supplemental English textbooks; and policies on emergencies and disaster preparedness, and fund transfer.
