SOLAR CARS ARRIVE IN TWENTYNINE PALMS TODAY

Make a point to be at Luckie Park in Twentynine Palms this afternoon. The fascinating and hi-tech solar car challenge is coming to the City. News director Gary Daigneault explains…
Fourteen high school teams will be arriving in Twentynine Palms in their solar-powered cars today. The teams, from as far away as New York, have been working since September in planning design, engineering, building, and finally, racing their solar cars, and this one-week road test, from Texas to California, will show off what they’ve learned. The teams will start arriving at Luckie Park in Twentynine Palms about 4 p.m. today, and Z107.7 will be there to give live updates. The teams will leave on their final leg to Los Angeles tomorrow morning, about 9 a.m. The public is invited to welcome these students. The cars will be on display and volunteers and students will be on hand to answer questions. For more information, call the Twentynine Palms Recreation Department at 760-367-7562.
