The iconic Smith’s Ranch Drive-in in Twentynine Palms is making plans for reopening. Joseph Newton-Candeleria, a spokesman for owner Mark Clemens, told Z107.7 News they are planning to reopen the drive-in either late July or early August as long as it is safe to do so. Newton-Candeleria said right now they are working at making their concessions area safe for staff and customers for reopening. He said they’re planning to play older, fun movie favorites with some theme nights where costumes will be encouraged like 70s night, 80s too, and maybe a Halloween-themed night. He said they want the drive-in to be a place where people can come together and have some fun while still keeping a social distance and enjoying classic films.
