Morongo Valley firefighters were called to a large brush fire Saturday afternoon. According to Fire Engineer Chris Palmer, the fire started about
2:20 p.m. on the westbound side of Highway 62 and Desert Willow. Palmer said it burned light to medium brush in an area about 100 feet long by 20
feet wide. While the cause of the fire is under investigation, Palmer urged people not to throw cigarettes out of vehicle windows.
In addition, Palmer reminded people to call 911 instead of coming to the fire station if they see a fire or have a medical emergency, as they will get a faster response by calling.
