SMALL FIRE IN MORONGO VALLEY THURSDAY AFTERNOON

Morongo Valley firefighters responded to a small fire Thursday afternoon at a homeless encampment alongside Highway 62. Battalion Chief Tim Peel
said about 5:45 p.m., Morongo Valley fire, with assistance from CalFire, were called to Senilis Avenue and the highway, across from the Chevron
gas station, for a small 10-by 10-foot fire. Peel said the fire did not threaten any structures and was quickly extinguished, and there were no injuries. The cause is still under investigation.
